SwIM CaMP

The week of July 18th, I took the kids to Green Canyon Hot Springs for a "Swim Camp". I met my friend, Rachelle there and we stayed all week without our husbands. I guess it gets called that cause lots of people end up camping there for the week while their kids have 2 hrs of swimming lessons a day. Green Canyon is about an hour and forty five minutes from Pocatello. I have never been there before and was pleasantly surprised. The camping reminded me alot of Indian Hot Springs when I was a little girl. It was a big grass field in the middle and the camping spots were along the outside. I was very pleased with the swimming lessons and how much the kids learned. There was only 5-6 kids in each class, so they had a lot of 1 on 1 time with their teachers. They also had to pass off certain First Aid requirements that went along with their class level.
MyLeigh is wearing a swim cap casue there is a LOT of chlorine in the pool. To be honest, she was sick of it by the end of the week, but it saved her hair. Mady loved wearing hers and had it on all the time, except when I had my camera. She was pretty cute in it.
Jaxon had no problems diving. He took to it pretty well. I just never got a really good picture. There is no diving board cause of liability issues :( Jaxon was also able to complete his requirements for his aquanant pin for webelos!
Mady pretending to be alseep in the floor in the Trailer.
After lessons, we would head back to the trailer for lunch and some down time. We played lots of Mexican horseshoes. After a little break, we would head back to the pool for free swim. We were usually there another 4 hrs. Then back for dinner and a couple of nights the kids headed back for MORE swimming!
We even got the kids to do a little reading while there
While in Evanston, Roy taught J how to start a fire, he was very quick to be in charge of the fire here, cause there was no Dads to do it. He coulnd't wait to show Bryson what to do. I must say, he remembered really well the making of a good fire.
What fire is complete without SMORES???
I am so glad that I can know make a smore without burning it. No wonder I didn't like them as a kid. Oh, and probably cause they didn't make strawberry marshmellows back them. That really makes a smore.
Mady got impatient waiting for her turn for a roasting stick, so she found the next best thing.... a real stick. She couldn't have been prouder.
Of course that one burned, so she had to have one not cooked!
